You may have felt like there’s something in your throat and you cannot figure out what it is and more you look into your mouth to look part of your throat, you see nothing more than inflammation of your throat area. Then, Bingo! You are a victim of a sore throat which is generally caused by acute viral acute viral pharyngitis , a viral infection of the throat. Not only this, it may also be caused by other infections such streptococcal pharyngitis (mostly in children), trauma and tumors. Moreover, stomach acid coming due to gastroesophageal acid reflux disease may also cause sore throat. A sore throat involves pain anywhere in the oropharynx that means you would have problem swallowing your food. Further irritation and inflammation will swollen and cause pain in your tonsils, glands and back of your throat and may also lead to a high fever, chills, headache, tiredness, aching muscles, runny nose, coughing, sneezing, feeling of unwell in adults and refusing to feed, irritability, frequent crying, diarrhoea, difficulty sleeping, cold, fever, runny nose and sneezing in young babies and so on. What if I say it’s not end of the world and you even don’t have to go to a doctor to treat it. You can just sit back relax in your home or work as you like and apply this home remedies for sore throat to get effective result or suffer from it for 2 – 7 hard days of pain if you don’t plan to treat it.

  1. Gargling with salt water or apple cider vinegar

    You may have done it many times till now and if you have done it, Congratulations! You yourself know a basic home remedy but have you done it appropriately? Many doctors basically recommend   putting in half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of water. Just relax, tilt back your head, and take a mouthful of the solution in your mouth depending on your capacity to breathe afterwards.  You can either extend your neck or back to tilt your head, whatever you feel like doing, do it. Then, expel air from the lungs which will create the liquid bubble and a funny sound.  You can gargle with same liquid in your mouth depending on the capacity of your lungs to expel air. At last don’t forget to spit out the liquid solution and breathe slowly. Don’t put too much of the solution in your mouth to prevent from spilling out. Apple cider vinegar is believed to relieve soreness of throat. Add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water and gargle similarly like salt water. If you haven’t taste vinegar yet, remain cautious for the first time as you may not like it. 

  2. Drink plenty of fluids

    If you aren’t hydrated enough during a sore throat period, you will worsen your condition even more. Drink plenty of fluids as you desire. You can drink a sugary fruit juice to delicious salty soup consisting chicken. Yummy! Aren’t they? Even the sore throat will not stop you to drink something delicious. Or you can go with something cold like an ice pop or ice cubes, which will help you, kill the heated inflammation and relax your throat. It’s all about supporting mucous membrane and keeping it moist and clean which is constantly fighting pathogens, bacteria’s and irritants by trapping them by producing mucous.

  3. Sleep with or without humidifiers

    Everybody, even a small kid also knows, sleeping solves many issues inside the body and also conserves energy. So if you take as much as rest, you will find decreased effects of sore throat when you wake up. If you want to get fast result, use humidifiers in your room or in your house as per as your capacity while sleeping as these humidifiers increases humidity wherever applied. Many famous singer and celebrities who drink, smoke and party have been using it but it’s not that a humidifier is only usable to them. Humidifiers have different varieties and types and cost accordingly. So buy yourself one as your capacity and sleep tight.

  4. Drink tea with or without honey and honey with or without tea

    Generally, herbal teas are used to be healthy and active. In this case, a herbal tea will work for sore throat as well. There are many herbal tea products in your nearby stores. Extract one out of there. It doesn’t matter what type of leaves it is made up because all of the leaves black, white, or green consists of antioxidants that will boost your immunity and strengthen you infection fighting capabilities. Adding honey to tea or taking it straight up will boost your power to fight bacteria’s and infections. It also possesses anti-inflammatory as well as healing properties which are ideal for curing sore throat. Even ancient Egyptians knew about properties of honey as they used to offer honey to gods or use honey to heal wounds. Anyway the darker the honey is more will be its anti bacterial and anti oxidant capabilities. Many researches have been done on honey and honey is found to be super effective to hamper growth of many pathogens. 

  1. Licorice root , slippery elm, marshmallows , eucalyptus

    Mixing powder made by licorice root and gargle it with water to relax sore throat problems. Pour boiling water over powdered bark of slippery elm and drink it to fight sore throat. Boil root of marshmallow in water or in tea to ease sore throat pain. Both slippery elm and roots of marshmallow contains mucous like substance which is believed to relax and protect your throat. Different products of eucalyptus can be consumed especially juice as it has infection fighting capabilities

  2. Peppermint

    Last but not the least, we have peppermint which contains antibacterial, anti viral and anti inflammable properties. A peppermint spray may be a best solution to your sore throat as it makes your breath and mouth fresh as well.
