Ol Parker, an English film director, writer, and producer, was born as Oliver Parker to mother Jullian, a writer, and father Sir Peter Parker, a former chairman of British Rail in London. He grew up with his siblings Nathaniel Parker, Lucy Parker, and Alen Parker. Parker completed his studies from Cambridge University. 

Ol Parker Career

Ol Parker started his career as a theatre artist. After several years on stage as an actor and a director, he shifted to the television and also tried working as a stand-up comedian. After that, Parker got leaned towards movies and produced his first short film entitled Unsigned in 1994.

After directing two more short films. he began directing feature films. Parker adapted Othello, the Shakespeare play, to the screen which was highly appreciated by the critics. Other successful works of Parker include Othello (1995), An Ideal Husband (1999), The Importance of Being Earnest (2002), The Private Life of Samuel Pepys (2003), Fade to Black (2006), I Really Hate My Job (2007), St. Trinian’s (2007), Dorian Grey (2009), St. Trinian’s II: The Legends of Fritton’s Gold (2009), Jonny English Reborn (2011), Goodness Gracious Me (2013).

Parker wrote screenplay for the movies The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Now Is Good, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Imagine Me & You, It Was an Accident, In Your Dreams (TV movie), Grand Hill (TV series), Love Up (TV movie) which proved him as a good writer as well. Ol won BAFTA Award for Best British Film and NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture.
