Introduction, Early Life, and Education

Amanda Silver is an American screenwriter and producer. She is the granddaughter of screenwriter and producer Sidney Buchman and sister of actor Michael B. Silver, and sister-in-law of Katie Mitchell. Amanda Silver graduated  from USC School of Cinema- Television in the year 1989 and then went to Yale University, New Heaven, Connecticut, for her further studies. 

Career

Before graduation, Amanda had worked as an assistant executive for Tri-Star Pictures and Paramount Pictures. She started the career formally as producer and writer in 1992 after writing The Hand That Rocks the Cradle as her thesis project which became her screenwriting debut. In her writing career, she had written many screenplays alone and with her husband too. After that, Amanda wrote “You never know whom you can trust” and then an episode of Fallen Angels in 1993.

Later, Amanda worked together with her husband to write Eye for an Eye (1996), The Relica (1997), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). These movies were a great hit during that period and being appreciated by the audience and the critics. She worked as an actress in Love Shack which was widely appreciated. Recently, Amanda worked in Jurassic World, the latest adaptation of Jurassic Park series, which was a great success.

Amanda Silver won The 26th Annual Genesis Awards for TV movie and Filmnut Award for TV series. For the science-fiction film Rise of the planet of Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, she won Saturn Award for best writing.

Amanda Silver married Rick Jaffa on July 29, 1989, who is also a screenwriter. They have been working together on every project and seem to be happily married.  Amanda has two children with Rick, Jeo and Franki, both of them sons.
