The River Oaks home is a 17,000-square-foot stone mansion in the Tall Timbers subdivision. It’s located on 1.86 acres of land and reportedly had six bedrooms, six bathrooms, three elevators and five fireplaces when it was purchased.

Joel’s start was largely influenced by his father, who was the Southern Baptist pastor and founder of Lakewood Church. After dropping out of college, Joel helped his father backstage by producing his televised sermons until his death

Osteen began preaching regularly and later that year it was installed as the new senior pastor of Lakewood Church on October 3, 1999. Since then, Lake wood’s attendance has grown from 5,000 to 43,000.

He authored ‘Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential’, which went on to become one of his best-known works in 2004 and in 2005, he moved Lakewood Church into the Comp[aq Centre, which was the earlier arena for the Houston Rockets.

As in 2007, a 12-minute segment on Osteen titled, ‘Joel Osteen Answers his Critics’ was aired on ’60 Minutes’ when it was discovered at this point of time that his method of teaching is unorthodox.

In 2008, he authored the book ‘Daily Readings from Becoming a Better You: 90 Devotions for Improving Your Life Every day’ and in 2011, he was seen on Pires Morgan’s show, ‘Pires Morgan Tonight‘. where he mentioned for the first time that he never attended a seminary and never received a divinity degree in his life.
