Stephen Anthony also known as Stephen A. is a well know American sports journalist, sports radio host and sports television personality was born on October 14, 1967. Smith appears with Molly Qerim and Skip Bay less on ESPN First Take where he is a commentator. On NBA broadcasts and NBA Countdown he is an NBA analyst. Also on Sports Center, he makes recurrent appearances as an NBA analyst. He also is the chronic commentator on some radio programs. Smith is also one of the active members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

LIFE & CAREER

On October 14, 1967, Stephen A. Smith was born in New York City. He has a younger brother and four younger sisters. He was the second youngest of six children. His younger brother Basil tragically died in October 1992 in a car accident. From Thomas Edison High School located in Queens he graduated. His father used to manage a Hardware store and originally they were from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. After attending one year at Fashion Institute of Technology he got a scholarship of basketball to attend Winston-Salem State University located in Carolina.

Talking about his career, with the New York Daily News, Greensboro News and Record and Winston-Salem Journal Stephen A. Smith started his print media career. For The Philadelphia Inquirer, he had a position of the writer since 1994. On the Philadelphia 76ers, he started reporting as their NBA columnist. Smith was demoted to the general assignment reporter on August 23, 2007, by the Inquirer. After the Inquirer ended its relation with Smith he started his own blog (stephena.com) in 2008. He returned to the Philadelphia Inquirer in February 2010.Smith started hosting the radio show WEPN in New York City from April 11, 2005, weekday noon to 2 pm. To Fox Sports Radio In November 2009 he became an on-air contributor. Talented smith replaced the host Steve Czaban and became a host of Fox Sports Radio morning shown on January 4, 2010.After being a resident FSR NBA insider in early 2011 he ended his morning show.

Despite being a sports radio host and sports journalist Stephen A. Smith also is a sports television host and started his television career from CNN/SI in 1999 on the now defunct cable network.  Currently on ESPN First Take and ESPN he is an analyst. He mainly started serving as an NBA analyst in January 2007 after the show Quite Frankly with Stephen A smith was canceled. Despite NBA Smith also has been visible on other ESPN shows like Dream Job, Jim Rome is Burning, recurring role on Pardon the Interruption and as a participant on 1st and 10. Smith started his acting career on February 2, 2007, as a television reporter on an episode of ABC soap opera General Hospital. After a while, he also appeared in I Think I Love My Wife. Though he has been appearing alongside with sports figures like Louie Vito, Dick “Dickie V” Vitale and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman in the beginning of 2014 he appeared in commercials as “The Little Voice in Your Stomach”.
