Omari Akhmedov was born on 12th October 1987 to Muslim parents. He grew up in the city of Kizlyar, Dagestan, Russia where he gained his interest in freestyle wrestling since his young age. He belongs to Caucasian ethnicity.

Omari Akhmedov Career
As a professional, Omari Akhmedov made his MMA debut match against Iskhan Zakharian at ProFC: Fight Night 2, on 30th January 2010. He won the match with via rear-naked choke. In a very short time, he impressed the viewers and had a record of 12-3 which lead him to sign him in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), in 2013.
On 9th November 2013, he made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 32 against Thiago Perpetuo which was his next victory with via knockout. Also, he received his first Fight of the Night bonus award from the match.
One after another, Omari was enjoying his victory and decided to join welterweight. On 8th March 2014, he made his welterweight debut at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa against Gunnar Nelson, Welterweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and black belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

It was really tough for Omari to face Gunnar Nelson and lost the match via guillotine choke submission in the first round. Although he lost the match, he didn’t lose hope and struggled hard for his next match.
Next, he fought Mats Nilsson at UFC 182, Brian Ebersole at UFC Fight Night 68, Sergio Moraes at UFC Fight Night 80, and Elizeu Zaleski at UFC on Fox 19. All of the matches was a victory for him and made him received Fight of the Night honor.
Altogether, he has fought 22 matches and won 17 (7 of them by knockout, 5 by submission and 5 by decision making) and lost 5 of the matches. He is still active in the related field and giving his best in the related field.
