A Finnish professional ice hockey player, Erik Haula is currently playing for Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). Minnesota Wild picked Haula in the seventh round of the  2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Erik Haula Early life and Education

Erik Haula was born on 23rd March 1993, in Pori, Finland. He is the only son of Minna Haula and Tomi Haula. Haula belongs to a Finnish nationality. Haula attended the Shattuck-Saint Mary’s where he played the 2008-2009 season.

Later that, Haula attended the Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School where he played junior level ice hockey. He completed his graduation from the University of Minnesota.

Erik Haula Career

During his amateur career, Erik Haula played 2008-2009 season with Shattuck-Saint Mary’s in Faribault, Minnesota where he made 79 points with 24 goals and 55 assists in 49 games.

Then Haula played the junior level hockey with Omaha Lancers in United States Hockey League (USHL).  After that, he began to play for the University of Minnesota.

On 27th June 2009, the Minnesota Wild drafted Haula in the seventh round of 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He played the 2009–10 season with USHL. Later he signed an entry-level contract with Minnesota Wild on 7th April 2013.

Haula made his NHL debut against Colorado Avalanche in the 2013–14 season. On 18th January 2014, Haula scored his first NHL goal against the Dallas Stars.

However, during the 2014–15 NHL season, Haula remained as a restricted free agent under the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. And he continued his NHL career during 2015–16 season playing as a center along with Nino Niederreiter and Jason Pominville.

After completion of the  2016–17 season, Haula signed a contract with Vegas Golden Knights for $8.25 million.
