Chris O’Donnell was born on 26th June 1970, in  Winnetka, Illinois, United States. He is the son of William Charles O’Donnell, Sr., who is a general manager of WBBM-AM and mother Julie Ann Rohs von Brecht. O’Donnell grew up along with his sister Sally O’Donnell and brother John O’Donnell. 

In 1988, he graduated from the Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. Likewise, O’Donnell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in marketing from the Boston College.
