Bob Ley is a sports anchor and reporter for ESPN. Bob Ley joined ESPN as an on-air employee in 1979, after three days of the network’s launch, which makes him the longest-tenured employee at ESPN.

 

Ley is married to women named Barbara. Ley does not like to talk about his personal life and wants to keep it secret. There have been no any reports about his past affairs and girlfriends. He has two children with Barbara.

Bob Ley Early life and Education 

Bob was born on 16th March 1955 in Newark, New Jersey.  He grew up in Bloomfield, New Jersey and did his schooling from Bloomfield High School. He started his career as a broadcaster when he worked as a sportscaster at WSOU, Seton Hall University.

He also worked as an intern production staffer at WOR-AM, New York. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. After graduating he did some broadcasting jobs with several networks such as New York Cosmos soccer team, ESPN.

Bob Ley Journalism Career

In 1980 Ley hosted NCAA selection show, first televised show, which was aired on CBS after two years. Along with Charley Steiner, longtime broadcasting partner, he hosted an “old school” on 9th August 2004. He currently works as a host of Outside the Lines, ESPN’s investigate program and also he hosts major international professional tournaments such as FIFA women’s World Cup telecasted by ESPN.

Ley was honored with Bloomfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame award in 1987. In 2008, Ley won Commencement Speaker for the University of Hartford award. Ley was honored with the first Men in Blazers Golden Jacket during the Night of 1000 Stars for his lifetime contribution in American Soccer.

During 35th anniversary of  ESPN cable network on 7th September 2014, Ley was honored for his contribution to ESPN network from the beginning. Ley was only one on-air personality after Chris Berman to be honored by ESPN. He won Emmy Awards eight times for his work in Sports Journalism. He also won CableACE Awards three times for his contribution as the host of “SportsCenter” and “Outside the Lines”.

During his three decades tenure, he has covered much hard-hitting news such as the Boston Marathon bombings, September 11 attacks, Pete Rose’s suspension and San Francisco earthquake. His announcement about Pete Rose’s lifelong suspension is taken as one of the most important moments in his career. While was on ESPN, he got a chance to interview four U.S presidents, George H.W.
