Young Artist Awards winner actress, and television producer, Holly Marie Combs is best known for her roles as Kimberly Brock in the CBS series Picket Fences, Piper Halliwell in The WB series Charmed, and Ella Montgomery in the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars.
Holly Marie Combs was born on December 3, 1973, to the parents, David Combs and Lauralei Combs in San Diego, California, the United States. At the time of her birth, her mother was sixteen years old and her father was seventeen.
Combs was two years old when her parents divorced and began living with her mother.

She moved to several places while her mother tried to pursue a career in acting. At 7, she and her mother moved to New York and grew up there. Combs was 12, when her mother, Lauralei remarried a musician stepfather. Combs attended Beekman Hill Elementary in New York City and later went to Professional Children's School.

At the age of fourteen, Combs made her first major role in the comedy-drama film "Sweet Hearts Dance" in 1988, which was directed by Robert Greenwald. Her next major role was in Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July" in 1989, a film adaptation of the best-selling autobiography of the same name by Vietnam War veteran Ron Kovic; which was directed by Oliver Stone and produced by A. Kitman Ho and Oliver Stone.
Her other roles included Helena in the 1989 anthology film "New York Stories" and Kim Fields in Hal Hartley's "Simple Men" (1992). Also in 1992, Combs made an appearance in Temístocles López's Chain of Desire as Diana, and in the slasher film Dr. Giggles, in which she played Jennifer Campbell, the 19-year-old daughter of Tom Campbell (played by Cliff De Young) and girlfriend of Max Anderson (played by Glenn Quinn).
She began to appear on the television series such as Guiding Light (1990), As the World Turns (1991–1994), A Perfect Stranger (1994), Sins of Silence( 1996), Our Mother's Murder ( 1997), and much more. Her first major breakthrough as an actress came at the age of 18, in the CBS television series "Picket Fences" from 1992 to 1996.

In 1998, Combs landed a lead role in The WB television series "Charmed" in which she portrayed Piper Halliwell, the middle of three sisters who are witches.In 2010, Combs was cast in the Freeform series "Pretty Little Liars" as Ella Montgomery, the mother of one of the main characters, Aria Montgomery (played by Lucy Hale).
Moving on to her personal life, Holly Marie Combs was married twice. Her first marriage was to actor Bryan Travis Smith. The couple married in 1993 and divorced in 1997. In 1998, she was engaged with Storm Lyndon but their engagement never turned into marriage and ended their relationship in 2000.

In 2014, She remarried to her longtime boyfriend, David Donoho. The former couple has three sons together, Finley Arthur Donoho( April 26, 2004), Riley Edward Donoho (October 26, 2006), and Kelley James Donoho ( May 26, 2009), all born via Caesarian section. Combs and Donoho stayed married for over eight years until she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce case was finalized in 2011.
