Kirsty Gallacher Biography
Kirsty Gallacher is a Scottish-born English television presenter, widely known for a popular show such as Sky Sports News HQ, RI:SE, and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. She is also known for making an appearance in the 2008’s British television series Gladiator on Sky1.
BRIEF MEMOIR
Born to the parents Bernard Gallacher and Lesley Gallacher, Kirsty Jane Gallacher was born on born 20 January 1976 in Edinburgh, Scotland. As an 18-year-old teenager, she moved to Virginia water, England and was raised at Wentworth Estate with her brother.
EDUCATION & CAREER
She received her education from St George’s School near Ascot. Gallacher received her higher education at London College of Fashion where she would whim about pursuing her career as a fashion journalist.
She first debuted in the media after being approached by Mark Sharman, the then deputy head of sport at Sky in 1996 as a production assistant. She later took up the designation of editorial assistant at the sport at Sky. She was first seen as a presenter not until 1998 when she presented the show sky sports News. After her work at the show, she was followed by similar opportunities leading her to host much more shows like 90 Minutes, Soccer Extra, Kirsty and Phil (on BBC Radio 5 Live) and Soccer AM to name among many. She worked as show host for a long time until she returned to sky sports to present for Sky Sports News, the same show which once had her launched into the media.
Gallacher earned most of her popularity from shows namely Sky Sports News HQ, RI:SE (2004) , Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night , Simply the best (2004) GLADIATOR (2008) .
ACHIEVEMENTS
Gallacher throughout her career not only touched the heights of popularity but was also a favorite of many critics. Kirsty Gallacher was nominated for best newcomer in Royal Television Society Television Sports Awards in 1998. Gallacher won satellite/ T.V. personality in 2002 at Television and Radio Industries Club Awards. She received the same award consequently in 2003 for her show Kirsty’s Home Videos. In 2002, she won “Platinum Award” for Best Entertainment Program at the 2002 Houston International Film Festival.
PERSONAL LIFE
Gallacher lived with her partner Paul Sampson, a rugby ace, in Surrey, England since 1999 after the duo met at a charity event. The couple gave birth to a son, Oscar in 2006 but the same year brought her suffering due to her ailment, post-natal thyroiditis. Gallacher got married to Sampson at the age of 34 in 2010. Before the marriage, the couple gave birth to their second child Jude Sidney, on 19 January 2010. The couple got separated in early 2015. After her separation with Paul Sampson in the august of 2015, the sources report her of being in a romantic relationship with German golfer Martin Kaymer. Martin Kaymer who is also popularly known as “ice man” as first introduced to Kristy Gallacher during Ryder cup which took place in September of 2015.
Laura Gallacher and her sibling sister Laura Gallacher remain close to each other after their father suffered from cardiac arrest in 2014. Gallacher remains close friend with lobby Rogan, her colleague who had already been working for Sky before she was first introduced to the T.V. presentation. Stefen Gallacher, a popular golfer is a cousin to her.
FUN FACT
Kristy Gallacher after her journey to India, where she was allured much by yoga spent 8 months there to learn the techniques of yoga which in her site she claims to be life changing. Gallacher has been hosting a website where she shares her videos and information regarding her regular yoga classes, yoga workshops, and retreats.
For her immense support for Hibernian Football Club, she was named Patron of Hibernian ladies in 2013.She is also a supporter of Liverpool F.C.
Kirsty Jane Gallacher was one among 200 public figures who signed a letter to an English daily, The Guardian in opposition to Scottish Independence following the run-up to September’s referendum issue of the daily.
