Sidney Crosby, the Winner of World Championship (2006), is recognized worldwide as Professional ice hockey player of Canada. He is the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL).  He is also regarded as the youngest teenager to win scoring title with 120 points in major North American Sports League.

Early Life

Sidney Patrick Crosby, son of Troy and Trina Crosby, was born on August 7, 1987, in Halifax, Nova, Scotia in the Grace Maternity Hospital. He grew in Cole Harbour with his younger sister, Taylor Crosby. His father played major junior hockey with the Verdun Juniors but never played as professional. His father inspiration leads him to play hockey from his early age. Crosby started playing hockey when he was only two years old and began skate at the age three.

He was Canadiens fan and admirer of Steve Yzerman, Canadian retired professional ice hockey player. He attended Astral Drive Junior High School.  When he was 15, he transferred to Shattuck -Saint Mary's in Faribault to play with the School's hockey program. He graduated from Harrison Trimble High School in Moncton, Brunswick in 2005.

Career

At age seven, he started his early career as a minor hockey player. He gave his first newspaper interview at the same age. When he was 13, he was not allowed to play in Nova Scotia Minor Hockey Council because the council's age limit need to be 15 to 17 years old. In next year, he entered the midget level with the Triple -A DartSubwayshere he leads Dartmouth to the second place at the 2002 Air Camada Cup.

During his midget season, he appeared on the CBC's Hockey Day in Canada Telecast. The opposing players attempted to injure him and also abused verbally. Soon after, Crosby joined the American Hockey Program at the Shattuck -Saint Mary's Boarding School(2002-2003) hockey season. He leads his team to a U18AAA national championship in 57 games with the Sabres with 72 goals and 162 points.

In 2003, he was selected in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he won the title Player of the week for regular two weeks at the start of the season. He was nicknamed "Darry" by his teammates of the League as he was leading point scorer; for which he was honored with RDS/JVC trophy, i.e., overall rookie of the year and Michel Briere Memorial Trophy (MVP).

NHL

Sidney Crosby was draft into National Hockey League in October 2005, for the draft, where his salary was $8,50,000 in the first season. NHL began its Olympic break in mid-February, where he stood a second place in rookie scoring. He had a point total 65, from 8 goals and 37 assists whereas the winner, Washington Capital's Alexander Ovechkin had 69 points with 36 goals and 33 assists. Crosby also joined Dale Hawerchuk as 18- years old in league history by getting 100 points in the season. He was the youngest team captain in NHL history.

He was the #1 pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL draft, who makes his mark in the NHL. He also led to the Stanley Cup finals in the third season only to lose Detroit Red Kings. Moreover, in 2008 to 2009, season, he defeated Detroit Red Kings and achieved Stanley Cup.

Crosby was selected as Captain to represent Canada at 2014 Winter Olympics. Canada won gold with one goal and two assists in 6 games against Sweden. He was reputed as "a player who rises in big games.

In 2015, he captained Canada to its first World Championship title since 2007, scoring 66 goals. He also became the 26th member of the "Triple Gold Club." In 2016, he led for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey in Toronto, scoring 10 points which make Canada win gold. He won the title "The most valuable player" in 2016, World Cup Of Hockey.In 2016, he led Penguins to Stanley Cup Championship.

The Stanley Cup winner, Stanley Crosby is in a relationship with long term girlfriend, Kathy Leutner, a Virginian model. They started dating since 2008 and kept their affair away from media since long. However, they were in the limelight when Kathy kissed and supported Sidney after he won Stanley Cup Championship.
