Linda Ronstadt was born on 15th July 1946, in Tucson, Arizona, United States. She is the third child of her parents, Gilbert Ronstadt and Ruth Mary (Copeman) Ronstadt. Her father was a prosperous machinery merchant who ran the F. Ronstadt Co. and her mother a homemaker.

Ronstadt grew up along with her siblings, brothers Michael J. Ronstadt, Gretchen Ronstadt, and Peter Ronstadt. She attended the Catalina Magnet High School. Ronstadt graduated from Arizona State University.

In the mid-1960s, Linda Ronstadt began her professional singing career. Initially, she sang California’s folk rock and country rock songs. Later, Ronstadt collaborated with Bobby Kimmel and Kenny Edwards and became the lead singer of folk-rock trio, the Stone Poneys. In 1969, she released her first album entitled Hand Sown … Home Grown.
