Jo Ling Kent was born in 1984 in Francisco and raised up in Minnetonka, Minnesota but currently, lives in New York City. She is the daughter of Shean Yen Janice Kent and David L. Then, Jo Ling Kent joined ABC News, serving as a digital reporter for, Beijing Bureau in Sep 2007. She covered the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Sichuan earthquake, the 2008 Taiwan presidential election, and more for ABCNews.com.

In 2009, she went to join CNN in Beijing, China, where she worked as a producer. She produced stories and reported on the web on the Chinese economy, politics, human rights, public health, and environmental issues in China.
