Jo Ling Kent was born in 1984 in Francisco and raised up in Minnetonka, Minnesota but currently, lives in New York City. She is the daughter of Shean Yen Janice Kent and David L. Jo’s mother is Taiwanese and her father is American-born. She’s fluent in Mandarin. She belongs to American and Chinese nationality and she belongs to Asian American ethnicity.

She covered the 2012 Republican presidential primaries and the Obama/Biden re-election campaign as an embedded reporter for NBC News in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina, and Florida.
